Write a Site from Scratch – Technical to Accessible

One marketing agency client I worked with was in need of a website to introduce their brand new SaaS product for banks and credit unions. This required extensive competitor research and learning the ins-and-outs of the target audience.

I drafted the website copy including the Home page, About page and more and worked in collaboration with the company CEO to complete it. This project was quite complex because it required I simplify a complex, technical niche into terms lay people could understand.

This company won an award after the site was complete. I’m not 100% sure it was due to the copy, but they didn’t win before the site was live! 😉

Connecting with a new segment

I’ve been working with a marketing agency to help a client mattress company launch a brand new mattress product in 2024. I created all product language for this product. I then wrote the copy featured on the product page, email flows, SEO blogs, social and beyond.

After creating the initial copy document, I compiled all langage across channels and added them to a content repository categorized by feature for ease of use later.

This product will launch in 2024.

Creating Efficient, Composable Content

One law firm requested that the marketing agency do the firm’s social content. Applying composable content principles, I reviewed competitors and crafted a content lake from which we can easily pull content for a variety of channels. Organizing the content by character count and subject created a much more efficient social creation process for the future.

I am in process of pursuing certification in Contentful composable content to help organizations create and publish content at scale.

Building a Bridge, One Week at a Time

3-4 times a month, CityView publishes my HomeFront military life columns in order to help build a bridge between Fort Liberty military service families and the surrounding community. This publication has 30k subscribers and growing.

The process includes planning content, collaboration with editors and colleagues, pitching story ideas, acquiring and interviewing sources, drafting stories and more. You can view the latest stories and columns on CityView’s website.

In addition, I have worked with journalists through the platforms Qwoted and Prowly to write and send press releases and coordinate quotes with agency client experts. I have pitched clients to journalists for specific articles and secured multiple published interviews.

Creating a Proposal to Evoke a Response

While working in the nonprofit world, I received GenderPRO certification from George Washington University. This was in response to a funding proposal I created to further my strategic abilities in the role.

In addition, I also led a small working group of peers from likeminded organizations in about 4 different nations. This group was asked to draft and present a paper on gender equality at a global summit. This paper was presented in 2020.

In my two years in this role, I created over 400 pages of original capacity-building resources for staff. I also successfully changed a program model from staff-led to local volunteer led in over 15 countries. This was all done through strategic communication and written proposals.

Staying Top-of-Mind

One marketing agency client requested an email automation flow for their newly bought Apple authorized repair and resell shop. I compared competitors, refined the brand language and drafted all copy for the welcome flow for the store’s launch.

I have also drafted hundreds of email subject lines for other clients using metrics from past campaigns and best practices to increase clickability. These email subject lines, previews and content are inventoried in order to create efficient email campaign-building processes with colleagues.

Creating a Community-Building Strategy

At the height of the COVID-19 pandemic, I wanted to put my skills to work to help fellow military families find community faster. I created this workbook which walks readers through a five-part monthly process they can use to map their relational resources and take high-impact actions every month.

Through this project, I learned the many-step process of drafting, editing and publishing a book. I also learned about book marketing, launch strategies and more.
